Community Harvest

The Community Harvest Initiative (CHI) provides equal access to healthy, fresh, high-quality, safe and affordable food for the entire community through the Bentonville Farmers Market.  This program is deeply important to Downtown Bentonville, Inc. and our mission to support the community of Bentonville in providing healthful nutritious food.

Women, Infant and Children Program (WIC)

WIC provides Federal grants to States for supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women.  This program also aids mothers with infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk. The Bentonville Farmers Market participates in this program.  Click Here for more information on the WIC program.

Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP)

The program will enable over 2,000 seniors living in Benton, Carroll, Madison and Washington Counties to receive farmers' market coupons. The coupons, totaling $50.00 per household will be accepted by the Bentonville Farmers Market and can be exchanged for a wide variety of locally grown produce.

Senior sign up and registration schedule for 2011 is TBD.  Click Here for a link to more information and contact info for the Office of Human Concern (OHC).

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

The Farm

The Farm is a new initiative with the Cobblestone Project. By planting crops on the rich Benton County land owned by David Carter, this initiative will be used to feed the hungry of NW Arkansas, develop a foundation for Community Supported Agriculture, and provide financial resources from the sale of a portion of the harvest at the Bentonville Farmers Market in order will offset operational costs to become fully self-sufficient.

Farmers Market Healthy Tables Program

You can directly help get fresh food, and the information on how to cook it, to our local families in need. By purchasing produce and meats at the market, and then dropping it directly off at the farmers market information booth, you can support local food pantries, women’s and children’s shelters and other social service point-of-contacts. All donations are tax deductable.

Support our local vendors while helping families in need. Contact us for more information on the program at 479.254.0254
